On Veterans Day of 2004 sixteen Veterans of Korean and Viet-Nam Era and including one WW2 Vet came together and  met at the Masonic Temple in North Little Rock.
 
The purpose was to explore the possibility of forming a new   American Legion Post serving the greater central Arkansas area.
 
After it was agreed to do so the Post selected the name of Michael Vann Johnson Jr to be named  in honor of.
 
 Officers were elected and the Post was officially named as Michael Vann Johnson Jr American Legion Post 74 of North Little Rock.
 
Post 74 has become one of the most recognized and respected Veteran Service Organizations around.
 
Each year Post 74 holds an Annual Tribute to Fallen Heroes Ceremony.
 
The Ceremony is designed to honor the memory of all the States Fallen Heroes that have paid the ultimate price as a result of OIF/OEF
 
The event  is supported by all levels of the Federal State and City Government and all the top level  Military and enlisted personnel
from the Little Rock Air Force Base and the Arkansas National Guard.
 
Gold Star Families are always the Post's special guest. The general public is always encourage to attend. 
 
The Ceremony will be held on Saturday April 14, 2018 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Sherwood Forest located at 1111 West Maryland in the City of Sherwood Arkansas. This Year's Ceremony will be the thirteenth year Post 74 has honored Arkansas's Fallen Hereos.
